How the name came into being?

In the mid 18th century there was a tax collector and self styled king named Dongsa Uzir. He ruled over Boruzirbari (under Kalaigaon reserve) & Thakigaon, Ouwabari & Thaijouguri (under Kokilabari reserve). He had land that required 80 pairs of oxen to plough & so he had a large number workers. Among them there was a short and stout pot bellied female cook. She was very obedient & hard working. So Dongsa Uzir liked her very much & lovingly called her Maozigendri (which means a female pot bellied cat).

One fateful day when she was washing dishes by the side of a stream as usual, she collapsed & later died (due to cholera). Dongsa Uzir was very sad on hearing the news & declared that the stream be named MAOZIGENDRI in her memory.

Knowing the importance of that stream, after creation of our society the name MAOZIGENDRI was unanimously accepted
